Tutoring via e-mail
Get help with your writing right at your computer. While e-mail tutoring does not replace meeting face-to-face with a tutor, it can be a good way to receive feedback on your writing. Send your paper to firstname.lastname@example.org and a tutor will reply as soon as possible.
E-mail tutoring is a service available to Ferris State University students. It is operated on a first-come, first-served basis. With each correspondence, be sure to include your name, student number, instructor's name, and course number.
Though e-mailed papers are typically reviewed the same day, it is dependent on our staffing resources. Therefore, you should allow 48 hours for a response. For longer papers (more than ten, double-spaced pages), each ten pages will be treated as one paper, so depending on staffing, the turnaround for long papers may be more than 48 hours.
Also, please remember that the Center is closed on weekends.
Note: The Writing Center's services are also available during the first two days of Finals Week.
A Message for ENGL 150 (Ferris) and KCHU 120 (KCAD) Students
Due to the high volume of papers generated and our limited staffing resources, we are unable to accept ENGL 150 (Ferris) or KCHU 120 (KCAD) papers for e-tutoring. ENGL 150 students are encouraged to call us and schedule an appointment with one of our friendly and knowledgeable tutors. We can be reached M-F at 231-591-2534. You can also come in during our "walk-in" hour without an appointment (11-12, M-Th).
Online Handouts and Reference Sheets
Go to the Writing Center's "Writing References" link for dozens of pages of information about writing.
The following are links to online writing tutorials. Click on the link, then follow the directions on that page for practice in spelling, grammar, learning English as a second language, and many other skills.
Please note that some of these sites are Canadian or British and their spelling and grammar rules may be different from those of American English.
