Students who are eligible for TIP benefits are required to create an online account via the Michigan Student Scholarships and Grants (MiSSG) portal to complete the application process for the Tuition Incentive Program. Students must indicate Ferris State University as their college of choice in order for Ferris State to be able to award the TIP funding.
Important Note: The State of Michigan has instituted a limit on the total TIP funding that any one school can receive. As a result of this new mandate, Ferris State University has established new awarding criteria that will be effective beginning with the Fall 2017 semester.
- We must have a FAFSA on file and all eligibility requirements completed by May 12th in order for a student to be considered for TIP funding.
- After the initial review of all students, if we have not reached the state’s funding cap, we will review those who did not qualify in the original review until the funds have been exhausted.
TIP Phase I
To receive Tip Phase I benefits, qualified students must be enrolled in an associate’s degree program and taking classes that count toward completion of that degree. The State will pay up to 24 credit hours per academic year (maximum of 12 credits per semester) for work taken within four years following high school graduation or GED completion.
TIP Phase II
TIP will provide a maximum of $2,000 in tuition benefits for credits earned in a bachelor’s degree (benefits cannot exceed $500 a semester and is tuition specific). These benefits must be used within 30 months of completion of Phase I.
