State and Federal laws regulate the practice of pharmacy as a profession. Michigan laws are administered by the Michigan Board of Pharmacy. Requirements for licensure as a pharmacist include:
- Graduation from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy
- Pass a criminal background check
- Completion of 1600 internship hours (which is less than what is earned within the Pharm.D. curriculum)
- Pass the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX)
Licensure and internship information can be obtained by visiting the LARA page on the State of Michigan website.
