The Sustainable Scalable Scholarships Opportunities Achievements Results or S3OAR program is funded by the National Science Foundation. The program will award 36 scholarships per year to freshmen at Ferris State University pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Each scholarship recipient will be awarded up to $10,000, renewable for up to four years. Academically talented students with financial need, particularly those from underrepresented groups in STEM such as first-generation students, ethnic minorities, women, and students with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

Opportunities for International Students

International students who complete a degree in a DHS approved STEM program are eligible to apply for a two-year extension of Optional Practical Training (OPT) work authorization upon completion of one year of OPT work authorization after graduation.  This OPT STEM Extension is for DHS designated STEM degree programs only and not STEAM (programs designated for the Arts only) and only at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels. Academic certificates and associate degrees do not qualify for the OPT STEM Extension.  For further information, please contact the Office of International Education at +1 (231) 591-2450 or [email protected].
