Adult Learner Life-Changing Scholarship Recipient

Winning the Adult Learner Life-Changing Scholarship meant everything to Samuel Attanasio, a student at Ferris - Traverse City.

"Because of this scholarship, I’ve been able to focus on finishing my bachelor's degree without having to worry about the financial burden," said the Business Administration - Aviation student. "I'm married and have a one-year-old daughter. The extra help has been amazing."

"The hardest thing about coming back to school has definitely been balancing school, family and my career," said Sam. "But I strive to be the best at everything I do. Staying motivated and focusing on my goals has been key."

"I’m actually glad I'm finishing up my education now, instead of immediately after high school. I feel like I'm mature enough to handle the responsibility."

Thanks to the flexible degree options offered at Ferris, the 38-year-old is able to pursue a career in aviation while he completes his degree.

"I was able to take my Ferris classes while I was going through my airline training. I'm proud to say that I am now a First Officer, currently based in New York City out of both LaGuardia and JFK airports."
