MSU Neurology Clinical Center

• The MSU Neurology Clinical Center is the principal practice site for faculty and resident ambulatory primary care and outpatient consulting services. The facility is designed solely for the delivery of ambulatory care and offers a variety of health services including resident outpatient clinics, general medicine faculty clinics, subspecialty clinics, onsite physical therapy, and laboratory and radiological services including magnetic resonance imaging. The Clinical Center houses an onsite pharmacy, nurse practitioner offices, conference rooms, a computer learning lab, and state-of-the-art EMR with wireless Internet access throughout the facility.

The COVID-19 vaccine and booster is required for students to rotate at this site. Exemptions will be accepted on a case by case basis.

MSU Neurology Clinical Center Intern: MSU Clinical Center (Tu, Th). Alternating clinics between DeWitt, Specialty Eye Institute, Carefree, Okemos Opt. the rest of the days. 

You should contact Krista Leiter (517-884-2488) [email protected]  and Dr. Koets [email protected] 8 weeks prior to the first day of your rotation to verify dates, times, directions, parking, and any other instructions. Report to MSU Neurology Clinical Center at address above at 8:00 a.m. on the first day of the rotation for two days of orientation to policies, clinical protocol, administrative procedures, etc. Completion of specific health tests are required-check with your site.

MSU Neurolgy Clinical Center:

To improve history gathering and communication skills with patients who present with various neuro-ophthalmologic conditions.

Rosenbaum Eye and Laser Center:

To improve students diagnostic techniques and management strategies in refractive surgery patients to include refractive surgery consultations and specialty contact lens fitting and management.

• Socratic method of teaching used at MSU Neurology Clinical Center: Daily Grand Rounds type discussions of all cases by optometry interns, medical students and ophthalmology residents and fellows.

• Student intern rotates through the Clinical Center two days per week, DeWitt Optometry  one day a week, Carefree Medical Eye Clinic one day a week, alternating Okemos Optometry with  Dr. Rosenbaum's practice supervised by Dr. Chris Kramer for pre- post-refractive surgery care.
