BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

A collaborative of Ferris State University professionals from various departments will present Women’s History Month programs, beginning with a webinar on Thursday, March 13.

Kweilen Ellingrud and Lareina Yee, authors of “The Broken Rung,” will speak about their freshly published work beginning at noon, said Advancement Communication Specialist Ben Withey.

“Though their academic performance often demonstrates excellence and aptitude, data suggests women experience a gender gap barrier in gaining promotions and opportunities that traditionally favor male professionals,” Withey said. “This new resource from acclaimed experts is grounded in research and features contributions from more than 50 influential leaders. We are excited to bring these insights to our interested audience who register for the webinar.”

On Friday, March 21, guest speaker Dr. Patrice Buckner Jackson will present on “Disrupting Burnout” at 11 a.m., with the free session in the West Campus Community Center.

LGBTQ+ Resource Coordinator Becca Osborne is spokesperson for the organizing committee for Women’s History Month. Osborne said the 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27 presentation on Indigenous Boarding School students offered by Dr. Suzanne Cross will be available on Zoom.

“Cross’ mother attended such a school,” Osborne said. “She will be providing important historical information about Indigenous Boarding schools intertwined with personal anecdotes. We welcome those interested in attending the Founders’ Room (DEC 203) that morning.”

Osborne added that additional events are possible and that updates will be provided as programs are confirmed. More information on these events can be gained through the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and those with disabilities wishing to gain assistance to participate can call the center at (231) 591-2663 or by email.
