BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced that Ferris State University freshman defenseman Logan Heroux was named Rookie of the Week following a two-point series against the University of St. Thomas in the CCHA Mason Cup Quarterfinals.

Heroux, a Finance major from Middletown, New Jersey, capped off his freshman season with a goal and an assist in two games played against the Tommies to pace conference rookies in points.

He led all Bulldog freshmen with 14 total points this year, good for seventh most points on the team and second most by a defenseman.

It was the first time this season a Ferris State skater was named CCHA Rookie of the Week and Ferris State’s eighth total weekly conference honor this year. Most recently, Caiden Gault a Business major from Manitoba, was named Forward of the Week for Feb. 28 to March 1.

Heroux scored a power play goal in Friday's game against St. Thomas, his third goal of the season, all on the power play. He finished plus-1 in the game with two shots on goal. In Saturday's 4-1 loss, Heroux assisted on Gault's goal that pulled Ferris State back within two goals late in regulation and took two more shots on goal. His four shots in the series were most among Bulldog defensemen.

The freshman wrapped up his first season as a Bulldog with 58 total shots on goal, three power play goals (tied for second most on the team) and an even on-ice rating.

Ferris State's season came to an end against St. Thomas, and the Bulldogs will now head into the offseason.
