BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Ferris State University’s Design Project Center has been recognized as a finalist in the 2023 Society for Experiential Graphic Design Global Design Awards, an international competition celebrating excellence in experiential graphic design.

Unexpected Choices: Achieving Business Goals Through Graphic Design was the project that was selected for its approach to branding, wayfinding and environmental graphics.
Led by Design program associate professor Alison Popp, the student-driven initiative showcased how strategic design can support business objectives while engaging audiences in meaningful ways. Originally developed for Ferris’ Design Project Center, the design project emphasizes the power of design thinking in shaping consumer experiences.
“We’re honored to be recognized by SEGD (Society for Experiential Graphic Design) for the work our students and faculty collaborate on,” Popp said. “This project exemplifies the impact of thoughtful, strategic design in achieving business goals, and we’re proud of the talent and dedication our students bring to these real-world challenges.”
SEGD is a global, multidisciplinary community of professionals who create experiences that connect people to place. The SEGD Global Design Awards highlight the best in experiential design across various industries, from corporate branding to museum exhibitions.
The recognition from SEGD reinforces Ferris State University’s commitment to hands-on, industry-relevant education that prepares students for success in design careers.
