Ferris State basketball teams both ranked fourth In this week's NCAA Midwest Regional rankings

The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads remain in strong contention for NCAA Division II Tournament berths as both teams are listed fourth this week in the NCAA D2 Midwest Regional Rankings.
Both teams, which reached the NCAA Division II Elite Eight a year ago, are featured among the region's top 10 squads heading into the final week of regular season play and both sit fourth in this week's initial numerical listing.
Ferris State has again made a strong statement in combined hoops success as the university is the lone school to have two teams ranked among the region's top five.
This week's men's regional rankings include Missouri University of Science and Technology at No. 1, Michigan Tech University at No. 2, Lake Superior State University at No. 3, Ferris State at No. 4, University of Findlay at No. 5, University of Missouri-St. Louis at No. 6, Upper Iowa University at No. 7, Lincoln University of Missouri, at No. 8, Kentucky Wesleyan University at No. 9, and Lewis University at No. 10.
The women's regional rankings feature Grand Valley State University on top, followed by Ashland University at No. 2, Northern Michigan at No. 3, Ferris State at No. 4, Malone University at No. 5, Lewis at No. 6, Findlay at No. 7, Wayne State University at No. 8, University of Wisconsin - Parkside at No. 9, and Hillsdale College at No. 10.
Ferris State is one of three teams in the Midwest Region to have both its men's and women's squads featured among the top 10 along with Findlay and Lewis.
Eight teams will be included in the tournament field when the official NCAA Division II selection announcement takes place following conference tournament play on Sunday, March 9.
The women's regional tourney will take place March 14-17 with the men's set for March 15-18 at campus sites to be announced. The eight teams will include three automatic berths handed out to the league tournament winners in each of the three conferences in the region.
The Bulldog men's basketball squad has made 18 all-time NCAA Tournament appearances, including eight trips to the big dance in the last 10 years. The women's squad has earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament seven times.
The Bulldogs had both teams earn invitations to the tourney in the same season both in 2020 when the event was cancelled due to COVID along with 2022 and 2024 when both captured the Midwest Regional Championship.
The men's squad owns a 23-6 overall record to date this season while the women are 19-8 on the year.
Both teams will visit Wayne State on Thursday, Feb. 27 for a league doubleheader in Detroit before heading to Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday, March 1 for the regular-season finale.
Following the regular-season, the official matchups for the GLIAC Tournament will be announced with quarterfinal-round play starting on campus sites Wednesday, March 5.
