BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

The online instruction in Ferris State University’s Master of Science in Nursing is rated among Michigan’s best post-graduate programs for 2025 by a national the advocacy organization.

RegisteredNursing.org., a Sheridan, Wyoming-based group, released its rankings and said its recognition “highlights Ferris’ dedication to academic excellence and the quality of education provided to nurses. These rankings are based on a comprehensive methodology that evaluates various factors, such as program quality, affordability, and graduate success rates.”

Nursing professor Stephanie Gustman said offering the Master of Science in Nursing online is one attribute the program presents to students.

“Being online is a paramount consideration, as our students have five years after they apply to complete their degree,” Gustman said. “That allows them to advance at a comfortable pace. There are no cohort restrictions, and our program offers student support opportunities intended to help in areas that often prove difficult for them.”

Gustman said the degree concentrations are developed with real-time consideration of the healthcare marketplace, where nursing educators are very much in demand.

“We also have options for students to build excellence in informatics, and administrative skills,” Gustman said. “Our clientele is adults who are pursuing their degree while active in their careers and could be at any point in their professional lives. We are proud of our curriculum, because the structure gives them options to choose, with opportunities that students want.”

The Master of Science in Nursing program at Ferris State is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the average annual salary for a registered nurse is approximately $86,210, with the top 25 percent earning over $97,000.

The demand for nurses, especially registered nurses, is projected to grow significantly in the coming years, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasting a 6 percent growth in employment from 2021 to 2031.
