Ferris State’s Dental Hygiene Clinic to host Free Kid’s Week, offering free cleanings, x-rays and other services

Ferris State University’s Dental Hygiene Clinic is opening its doors to the community this week for its annual Free Kids Week, featuring free cleanings, fluoride treatments and X-rays, among other services.
The clinic also offers 50 percent off sealants per tooth with dates remaining for that and other services on Tuesday, April 1, from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, April 3 from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m.
In addition to serving the community, the clinic is a hands-on educational opportunity for Ferris State Dental Hygiene students.
“This event is important because it offers free preventative dental care to area children, baby through 18 years,” said Darla Zimmerman, operations supervisor for the Dental Hygiene Clinic.
“This event benefits our students because it gives them hands-on experience with children and the process of care. They provide patient and guardian education, x-rays, dental screenings, cleanings, sealants and fluoride treatments. Our students can use dental puppets that have teeth for brushing instructions. The event is a fun event for students and kids.”
The Dental Hygiene Clinic offers free or discounted services to children up to age 13.
