Men’s Basketball Wins GLIAC Tourney, Men and Women Earn NCAA Bids, Seven Named All-Conference Over Weekend

Seven Ferris State University basketball players earned All-Conference honors for outstanding performance during the 2023-2024 season from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Three members of the men’s basketball team, which won the GLIAC Tournament championship
on Sunday, were saluted. Four members of the women’s team, which was ranked No. 10
nationally before falling in the GLIAC championship semifinals, earned recognition.
Both teams were selected on Sunday to compete in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
The All-Conference teams and major award recipients were determined by voting by the league’s head coaches. Ten student-athletes were named to the All-GLIAC First Team with 10 more on the All-GLIAC Second Team and 10 earning GLIAC All-Defensive Team accolades.
Ferris State junior guard Ethan Erickson was chosen as the GLIAC’s Sixth Man of the
Year, becoming the first player in league history to earn the recently-created award.
Erickson also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors along with senior guard Ben Davidson. Senior forward Dolapo Olayinka was an All-GLIAC Second Team honoree.
The trio has helped lead the Bulldogs to a 24-7 overall record to date this year.
The women’s team had four players saluted with All-GLIAC honors.
Senior guard Mallory McCartney, senior forward Chloe Idoni, and junior guard Kadyn Blanchard earned All-GLIAC First Team honors. The Bulldogs were the only team to have three student-athletes named to the First Team squad.
