Distinguished Staff Awards and Distinguished Team Awards are presented each year to employees who have demonstrated exemplary service to Ferris State University, its students, and the community. Up to five individuals and one team may win the award each year. It is an honor to be nominated or selected as a recipient of the Distinguished Staff or Team Award.
Current full-time and part-time employees below the level of vice president, either non-bargaining or bargaining unit, who have been Ferris employees for a minimum of the last two years, are eligible. Excluded are past recipients, Distinguished Staff Award Committee members, and faculty eligible for the Distinguished Faculty Award.
Criteria for Nominations
Candidates should excel in the areas of positive attitude and/or enthusiasm for Ferris, excellence in performance of duties, interest in students or demonstrated cooperation with staff, participation as a member of the University community, and service to others.
Making a Nomination
To make consideration for nomination:
- Nominators may nominate up to two individuals and one team.
- Nominations from more than one person for the same nominee must be on separate forms.
- Nominators' names will be kept anonymous if requested.
Once all nominations have been received, the committee will solicit details from nominees, screen those nominated, conduct personal interviews and select finalists. Finalists will be recommended to President David Eisler.
The honorees will be formally recognized at a ceremony on their behalf. Distinguished Staff awardees will receive an individual plaque and a one-time cash award of $500. (All awards are subject to normal tax deductions.) Team award winners will receive a one-time equipment allocation of $1,500 to the team's home department. In addition, the names of recipients will be engraved on a plaque.
