Biography

Dr. Furstenberg joined the Ferris ISI program as a full-time faculty member in the fall of 2014. He brings extensive industry experience across various sectors, including multi-million-dollar retail corporations, small to medium enterprises, independent retail organizations, nonprofits, academia, and healthcare. Throughout his career, he has held key positions at various organizational levels, including Chief Information Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Infrastructure Analyst, Systems Administrator, IT Security Analyst, Digital Forensic Analyst, and Cybersecurity Consultant.
Dr. Furstenberg was an inaugural member and team leader of the State of Michigan’s Cyber Partners Incident Response (MIC3), retiring from active duty in 2024. MIC3 delivers cyber incident response, cybersecurity services, and training for public, private, and government organizations.
Dr. Furstenberg is a licensed Private Investigator specializing in digital forensics, cyber investigations, the criminal underground, and cybercrime.

Students nominated Dr. Furstenberg for the Ferris State's - Distinguished Teacher Award for the 2023-2024 term.
