Grant Feraco is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Operations and Supply Management (OSM). During his time at Ferris State University, he also has been involved with Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
This past summer, Grant completed an internship with Lowe’s. He worked on a process improvement project that focused on delivering a better operational flow in a specific area of the warehouse. Other responsibilities included learning the day-to-day tasks of a supervisor and familiarizing himself with various software.
In regard to his internship and favorite day, he stated, “I learned about the complexities of supply chain management and the importance of having good communication skills with peers and associates. It is hard for me to pick a favorite day from my internship. It was great to go in every day because my manager and peers were always welcoming and helpful, making it easy to enjoy going to work every day. I wouldn't change anything about it and would recommend this internship or any internship at Lowe's to others, as it has been a great experience.
As far as advice for current OSM students he shared, “Internships are very valuable to students because they help you truly understand what you are doing at work. The classroom prepares you with the knowledge you need, but actually being there, you learn a lot, such as communication skills, which I think are the most valuable.”
It is good to read that the internship was a great learning opportunity, Grant. We are excited to see what the future holds for you after graduation!
