Biography

Dr. Pike is a native of Michigan. He received his bachelors degree from Cornerstone University and his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin. His dissertation work characterized the folate-dependent enzyme, methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 1-Like (MTHFD1L) in adult and embryonic tissues. Subsequently for postdoctoral research, he studied immunotoxicology and carcinogenesis at Michigan State University. Afterwards, he was a teaching postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas at El Paso where he developed interdisciplinary classes between the fields of biology, women's studies, and the social sciences. He came to Ferris in the spring of 2017 as an adjunct professor, was hired as the Shimadzu Core Laboratory manager in the summer of 2017, and became a tenure-track professor and director of the Shimadzu Core Lab in the summer of 2018.
