Kylie Piette - Director of Equal Opportunity

Kylie joined Ferris in November 2016 as the Director of Equal Opportunity after working nearly sixteen years as a civil rights investigator with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights ("MDCR").  During Kylie's tenure at the MDCR, she investigated complaints of discrimination and harassment in areas such as employment, housing, education, and law enforcement.  Kylie also has expertise in presentations, training, and special events related to diversity and inclusion, disability accessibility and accommodation, sexual harassment, and sexual orientation.  As Director of Equal Opportunity, Kylie articulates, implements, and monitors Federal, State and University equal opportunity and non-discrimination policies, mandates, and priorities by reviewing, investigating, and attempting resolution of civil rights violations; serving as a liaison to all members of the University community for equal opportunity and between the University and state/federal agencies and groups; conducting training and educational sessions on equal opportunity topics for students, faculty, and staff; and other services.

In addition, Kylie previously worked for the United Auto Workers and the University of Michigan as well as several Grand Rapids area theaters/playhouses.  Kylie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Michigan.
