The BRC is a web-enhanced course and requires completion of an online MSF eCourse. A link to the eCourse will be emailed prior to the start date of your class with a pre-paid eCourse code. Please contact our office if you do not receive two weeks prior to class.
Ferris State University's Corporate & Professional Development offers the BRC (Basic Rider Course) conducted with state funds from a motorcycle safety grant administered by the Michigan Department of State and are Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) approved and taught by MSF certified instructors.
Successful completion of the BRC course includes passing a written and riding skills test. A completion card waiving the Secretary of State's (SOS) tests at the time of license application will be issued.

Motorcycle Safety Course information
BRC: Basic RiderCourse® is for new riders with little or no riding experience seeking a license endorsement.
- You must be able to balance and ride a two-wheel bicycle
- Open to Michigan residents with valid driver license or permit
- Required for riders who have twice failed the SOS third party skills test
- Required for riders under 18 years of age; must be at least 15 years old at time of class
$50 fee - non refundable
