The School of Design and Manufacturing is about educating you to design, prototype and manufacture tools, components, products and printed materials. The newly created School offers eight Bachelor of Science and six Associate of Applied Science degrees – including some of Ferris’ unique majors. The need for college graduates in the design and manufacturing related fields is great and entering one of these fields will lead to almost certain success.
CAD and Manufacturing
Are you a creative problem solver, mechanically inclined and love technology? Then one of the four degrees in these areas could be for you. The Associate in Applied Science degrees in CAD Drafting and Tool Design and Manufacturing Technology are a start for you and can lead to the completion of many Bachelor of Science degrees on campus including Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, and Quality Engineering Technology. Companies from around the world need young, fresh, and energetic talent to remain competitive and to design and produce products that are sustainable, recyclable and contribute positively to society.
Plastics and Rubber Materials Manufacturing
As someone who enjoys chemistry, physics, problem solving and technology, then you should take a look at the four degree options in these fields. The Bachelor of Science degrees in Plastics Engineering Technology and Rubber Engineering Technology are compliments to the Associate in Applied Science degrees in Plastics Technology and Rubber Technology, as well as any other manufacturing associate in applied science degree offered. As medical fields continue booming, so is the quest for new instruments and devices, many of which are comprised of specialty plastic components. Graduates from these Ferris programs are changing the way we use and re-use plastic.
Welding Engineering Technology
There’s a reason why Ferris is one of only three schools in the country to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Welding, you learn more than just weldments. In the Welding Engineering Technology Bachelor of Science degree you are taught to become engineers involved in the concept, design, engineering, manufacturing and testing of welded products. Many students complete the Associates in Applied Science degree in Welding Technology to strengthen their hands-on welding experience. The graduates in the Welding programs enjoy close to 100% job placement and are among the highest paid out of the College of Engineering Technology.
