Information Regarding CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Grants

  1. Ferris State University has signed and returned to the US Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for CARES funding. Ferris State University intends to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students (HEERF grants).

  2. Ferris State University has received $4,573,407 from the US Department of Education pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to Ferris State University students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 12/31/20 is $4,573,407.

  4. The estimated total number of students at Ferris State University eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 8,074.

  5. The total number of Ferris State University students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 12/31/20 is 7,068.

  6. SPRING 2020:
    In order to qualify, students must have been enrolled during the disruption to instruction of spring 2020, not have been enrolled in a fully online program spring 2020, must meet Title IV federal aid General Eligibility requirements (a valid 2019-2020 FAFSA is required), and must have incurred expenses related to the COVID19 disruption. The maximum grant amount is $400. FSU has implemented an online application and the conditions above will be confirmed electronically upon submission.

    FALL 2020:
    Students must be enrolled for fall 2020, must meet all Title IV federal aid General Eligibility requirements (a valid 2020-2021 FAFSA is required), and must have incurred expenses related to course delivery changes due to COVID-19. The maximum grant amount is $400. FSU has implemented an online application and the conditions above are confirmed electronically upon submission.
