The Bulldogs maintained their slim lead all thru the second period as sophomore goaltender Pat Nagle (Bloomfield) stopped all 16 WMU shots in the frame. A potential game-tying goal by Western midway through the period was waved off and a Bronco shot late in the stanza narrowly missed the Bulldog goal. Embach would strike again in the third period for Ferris Stateís second goal of the night with a blast from above the left circle. Embach produced his sixth lamplighter of the campaign on a two-line pass up the ice by senior defenseman Evan Case (Grosse Pointe Woods). Chad Billins also played a role in the scoring pass by earning the second assist. Western would eventually get on the board with 8:55 left in the game as J.J. Crew put one in past Nagle at point-blank range to close within 2-1.

Embach would notch his third score of the contest and seventh of the season with 6:51 to go during a five-on-three man-advantage for the Bulldogs. He put the puck into the WMU net from the right crease on a rebound after sophomore defenseman Zach Redmond (Traverse City) fired a shot on Bronco netminder Riley Gill to make it 3-1. Less than 24 seconds later, Evan Caseís slapshot from inside the blueline gave the Bulldogs a 4-1 advantage. For Case, the goal represented his first of this campaign. Western would get one back on a Chris Frank marker 10 seconds after Caseís score.

Besides Embach, Chad Billins generated multiple points with three assists while Corey Couturier dished out a pair of helpers. Embach and Billins received the game's first and second stars, respectively as a result of their noteworthy performances.

Pat Nagle (6-7-2) turned away 32 shots in claiming the win while Riley Gill made 30 stops for the Broncos. Both team concluded the game with 34 shots on goal apiece.
