SPORTS MEMORABILIA AUCTION TO BE HELD AT THIS WEEKEND'S FSU HOCKEY GAMES
Proceeds After Initial Bid To Benefit The FSU Hockey Program
Ferris State University Athletics will be holding a sports memorabilia auction this weekend (Dec. 5-6) during the Bulldog Hockey team's two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series against nationally top-ranked Notre Dame.
The auction will serve as a fundraiser for the Bulldog men's ice hockey program with all of proceeds after the initial bid going directly to the FSU hockey program.
The silent auction, which will begin at 6 p.m. (EST) both nights, will be held in the lobby area of FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. Fans and collectors will be afforded the opportunity to acquire not only Ferris State merchandise, but also items from three professional sports teams in Detroit (Red Wings, Tigers, and Pistons).
Some of the 50-plus merchandise pieces will be signed and unsigned from jerseys to photographs. The price range will be from $90 all the way to $600. The silent auction bidding will close at the beginning of the third period for each contest.
"We're excited to be a venue for this auction," said Ferris State Associate Athletics Director Jon Coles. "This is a tremendous opportunity for sports fans to acquire some unique memorabilia while benefitting our men's hockey program. With the Christmas Holidays just around the corner, this is an ideal time to purchase a special gift for the true sports fan."
The memorabilia is being provided by Twice Framing of Troy, Mich., which also conducts auctions in conjunction with Detroit Pistons' games. This weekend marks the company's initial attempt at conducting an auction at a college venue.
