Sophomore defenseman Zach Redmond (Traverse City), member of the 2008-09 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team, is currently profiled by College Hockey News (CHN).

This season, Redmond presently has registered a career single-season high and team second-best 24 points on three goals with 21 assists in 36 contests this season. The Bulldog assistant captain has also produced a plus efficiency rating to go along wiht a squad-leading 56 blocked shots, two power-play goals, and one game-winning tally.
The 6-1, 195-pound defenseman has compiled a team third-most four multiple-point game performances this campaign while notching at least a point in 17 contests. He currently leads the Bulldogs with 13 power-play points (2-11=13) and is first with four multi-assist game efforts to date this season.

Redmond, who was a honorable mention selection on the 2008-09 Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Preseason All-Conference Team, earned CCHA Defenseman of the Week accolades earlier this season (Oct. 27) with a three-point (0-3=3) weekend effort in a league home-and-home series versus Western Michigan (Oct. 24-25).
For his career, Redmond has presently scored nine goals with 34 assists for 43 points while chalking up seven multiple-point game outings in 73 appearances. He has recorded a plus 18 efficiency rating while netting three power-play lamplighters, one short-handed tally, and one game-winning goal during his two-year collegiate career.
Redmond, a 2008 seventh-round draft pick (184th overall) of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Atlanta Thrashers, achieved 2007-08 CCHA All-Rookie Team Honorable Mention laurels after leading Ferris State defensemen in scoring with 19 points on six goals and 13 assists in 37 contests. The 2007-08 FSU Rookie of the Year Award recipient also placed sixth among the team's top points producers.
Ferris State, which is presently 12-17-7 overall and finished with a ninth-place 9-14-5-2 CCHA regular-season record, begins the first round of the 2009 CCHA Playoffs this weekend (March 6-8) against the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks at Omaha, Neb. The best-of-three series gets underway this Friday (March 6) at 8:05 p.m. (EST) in the double-elimination opening-round series.
