Bulldog Skater Named To INCH's First Half All-CCHA Team
Ferris State University sophomore defenseman Zach Redmond (Traverse City) was recently selected to the Inside College Hockey.com's First Half All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Team in the 2008-09 CCHA Midseason Review.
Redmond has presently compiled a team fourth-best tying 12 points on one goal with 11 assists in 21 games this campaign. The FSU assistant captain currently leads the Bulldogs in both plus/minus efficiency rating (+8) and blocked shots (23). The 6-1, 195-pound defenseman has posted at least a point in 10 contests this campaign, which includes a pair of multiple-point game peformances at Robert Morris (Oct. 18) and versus Western Michigan (Oct. 25).
Redmond was tabbed as the CCHA's Defenseman of the Week earlier this season (Oct. 27) and received 2007-08 CCHA All-Rookie Team Honorable Mention accolades.
For his career, Redmond has presently generated 31 career points on seven goals and 24 assists in 58 appearances. He has posted a career +22 efficiency rating to date while netting two power-play goals, one short-handed marker, and one game-winning tally.
Prior to the start of the 2008-09 campaign, Redmond was the third player chosen in the final round of the 2008 National Hockey League's (NHL) Entry Draft as the Atlanta Thrashers selected him with the 184th overall pick. He also was Ferris State's featured player on Inside College Hockey.com's (INCH) "A to Z 2008-09 Preview" and achieved honorable mention kudos on the 2008-09 CCHA Preseason All-Conference Team.
