Junior defenseman Alex Spezia and the Bulldogs will now host Mercyhurst at 5:35 p.m. (EDT) in the Oct. 14th series finale between the two teams.

The Ferris State University Athletics Department has announced the men's ice hockey game on Saturday, Oct. 14, against the Mercyhurst College Lakers will have a new start time.

The non-league contest has been moved back to a 5:35 p.m. (EDT) starting time from the previously scheduled 5:05 p.m. (EDT) opening faceoff. Ferris State will host Mercyhurst in a two-game set the weekend of Oct. 13-14 at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. The series opener will be held Friday, Oct. 13, commencing at 7:05 p.m. (EDT).

"We moved back the hockey game starting time in order to accommodate our fans so they could stay and watch the Bulldog football game in its entirety," said FSU Athletics Events, Facilities and Marketing Manager Michael Haggerty. "We didn't want the two athletic events to overlap and it's of importance to have a large turnout of our fans at both venues."

Ferris, which compiled a 17-15-8 overall record and tied for sixth place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) last season at 10-11-7 (27 points), will conduct its annual Crimson and Gold Intrasquad Game this Saturday (Sept. 30) at 7:05 p.m. (EDT) before hosting the University of Toronto (Ontario) Varsity Blues this Sunday (Oct. 1) in a 2:35 p.m. (EDT) exhibition outing at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs, who were recently chosen ninth in the 2006-07 CCHA Preseason Coaches Poll and seventh in the CCHA Preseason Media Poll, officially start the 2006-07 campaign Oct. 6-7, with a two-game home series versus the Union College (N.Y.) Dutchmen. Both games will begin at 7:05 p.m. (EDT) and tickets may be purchased through Star Tickets Plus and at all West Michigan Meijer stores, online at www.starticketsplus.com or by calling (800) 585-3737. In addition, fans can also contact the FSU Athletics Ticket Office inside the ice arena directly Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EDT) at (231) 591-2888. However, phone orders for single-game tickets must be purchased through Star Tickets Plus.

Ferris State is ranked 34th nationally in the 2006-07 USCHO.com/CSTV Networks Preseason Poll and is among 10 CCHA teams to receive a national ranking by the online publication.
