WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NCAA SELECTION SHOW SUNDAY NIGHT
Ferris To Learn Postseason Fate In Live Internet Broadcast
The Ferris State University women's basketball squad will find out its postseason fate when the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament Selection Show airs live via the internet this Sunday night (March 9).
The 30-minute selection show of the 64-team field and regional championship sites will be broadcast live at www.ncaa.com. The show begins at 10:30 p.m. (EDT).
The 64-team men's and women's brackets will be posted at the site immediately after the selection show.
Eight regional teams, including six at-large squads, will participate in the NCAA-II Women's Basketball Great Lakes Regional Tournament March 14-17 at the site of the highest seed. The Bulldogs, who were ranked seventh in the latest (March 5) NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Rankings, figure to be among the team's at least considered for the remaining at-large bids despite Friday's (March 7) 56-45 loss to Ashland in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals at Houghton, Mich.
Ferris State presently holds a 17-12 overall this campaign.
FSU has made three previous trips to the NCAA-II Tournament and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last season (2006-07) before falling to Drury (Mo.) in the regional final at Romeoville, Ill. The Bulldogs had never won a national tournament game prior to last year's wins over Northern Kentucky and Gannon in the first two rounds of the regional tournament hosted by Lewis University. Ferris garnered its first NCAA berth in 1999-00 and also earned a bid in 2003-04.
Drury is expected to be the region's top seed and host the event in Springfield, Mo.
