ASAAD ROBINSON TO PLAY COLLEGIATE HOOPS AT FERRIS STATE
Detroit Northwestern Wing Player Signs With The Bulldogs
The Ferris State University men's basketball program has received its third prep committment this spring as guard/forward Asaad Robinson (Hamtramck/Detroit Northwestern) has announced his intentions to join the Bulldog program starting with the 2009-10 campaign. Today's (May 19) announcement was made by FSU head coach Bill Sall.
The 6-5 Robinson, who prepped at Detroit Northwestern High School, joins point guard Ricarri Stimage (Muskegon Heights) and forward Daniel Sutherlin (Detroit/Renaissance) as a member of Ferris' current recruiting class to date.

"Asaad is a good athlete with a solid mid-range game who takes the ball to the basket well," Sall said. "A hand injury hampered him for part of this past season, but he came on strong at the end.
"A number of schools were recruiting him, but he really felt Division II basketball at Ferris State was the best fit for him," he added.
Robinson was pegged as the state's 10th-best small forward/wing player in the class of 2009 by Inside Prep Sports. He was also mentioned as Michigan's 12th-best wing player by Next Generation Sports and Stephen Bell's High School Basketball Bulletin honored him as the 14th-best senior wing this past year.
Additionally, Robinson was also labeled as one of Michigan's "Biggest Sleepers" in 2009 by Inside Prep Sports, which included him as one of five seniors to watch this campaign.
Robinson, who played in the competitive Detroit Public School League (PSL), helped the Colts to the second round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class A District Tournament this past year after the squad previously captured the school's first city league championship in 30 years under head coach Steve Hall during the 2007-08 season.
Along with Sutherlin, Robinson will join two other former PSL players on the Bulldogs' roster in guards Darien Gay (Detroit/Henry Ford) and Dontae Molden (Detroit/Pershing).
Ferris State concluded the 2008-09 campaign with a 14-14 overall record and the Bulldogs placed third (12-10) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division play. In addition, FSU made its 10th GLIAC Tournament appearance and fourth in the last five years this season.
This year also represented the seventh consecutive year the Bulldogs have won 10 or more games under Sall after the program had not done so in the four years prior to his arrival.
FSU will officially open fall practice on Oct. 15 for the 2009-10 season.
