Dr. Konecny will present the solution to the problem proposed by Alper Cay, Uzman

 Private School, Kayseri, Turkey (Crux Mathematicorum, Vol. 33, No 5, September 2007, p. 298.)

 

Let ABC be a triangle with angle B = 80 degrees.  Let BD be the angle bisector of angle B with D on AC.

If AD = DB + BC, determine angle A, using a purely geometric argument.
