Healthcare Marketing Intern: Madison Earl
I am getting to experience what it means to be a professional.
Originally a biology and pre-physical therapy major, Madison Earl changed her major to healthcare marketing in order to stay involved in the healthcare field but with a less hands-on approach.
“My career goals are to work my way up to a Healthcare Marketing Manager and possibly a Healthcare Marketing Director. My major is preparing me for this because I get to take the basic marketing classes as well as the higher-level healthcare marketing classes. This will prepare me for a job right after college,” explains Madison.
Going into her senior year at Ferris, Madison is interning at the University of Michigan Hospital for Marketing and Communications in the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Department. She accredits her internship as being, “a great opportunity that I could not pass up. Being able to work at one of the best hospitals in the world is amazing.”
Even though Madison recently began her internship, she stays busy while on the job. Her day-to-day duties include, but are not limited too: creating content for events within the department, drafting a department newsletter, updating social media platforms, managing the department’s website, attending meetings, and staying in close communication with her boss.
“[My internship] has given me the opportunity to gain and practice important technical skills in a real-world work environment. I am getting to experience what it means to be a professional and these skills will continue to develop throughout the years,” says Madison.
