Public Relations Student Society of America Raises Money to Donate Blankets to Children in Need
November 10, 2016
Remember when you were a child and had your special blanket that provided you warmth and a feeling of comfort and security? Unfortunately, many of the children in Mecosta County are missing out on that feeling—they do not have a blanket to call their own. Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is helping change this through their annual blanket drive for the local non-profit organization, Angels of Action.
This fundraiser will be in effect until Tuesday, November 22. By providing a $15 donation, a Registered Student Organization, class, team, or individual will be able to sponsor a handmade fleece blanket for a child in need. Students in PRSSA will make the blankets, which will be delivered to children in local schools, who will use them to keep warm during Michigan’s winter.Plus, as an extra bonus, for every blanket PRSSA donates Angel of Action will match it with a second blanket. All donations can be dropped off in the PRSSA Office, UCB 121 in the Center for Leadership, Activities, and Career Services, between noon and 5pm every Monday through Thursday. Donations can also be dropped off in IRC 107 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.
PRSSA is the premiere pre-professional organization for public relations students. With more than 11,000 Society members and more than 300 international chapters, PRSSA prepares students to succeed upon entering the PR, business, or communications industry. Objectives of the Ferris State chapter include the enhancement and understanding of current theories and techniques in public relations and the establishment of personal contacts through working with PR professionals.
