• The Music Movement– Music Industry Management students value the meaning behind the music

    July 22nd, 2015“Music is an omnipresent force that affects us all. It’s how we tell stories, let off steam, dance, cry, laugh. You name it, music has it. It’s so much more than just entertainment,” says Music Industry Management (MIM) junior Josh Olszewski. “I decided to study MIM at Ferris because it’s the only one of its kind.” Always having an interest for the influence of music, Olszewski knew that the music business was for him. In addition to his degree in MIM, he also has a minor in Public Relations.   • Public Relations student president attends leadership conference in Arizona

    June 8th, 2015Public Relations and Marketing double major Emma Thibault recently returned from Scottsdale, Arizona where she attended the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Leadership Rally. Emma serves as the President of Ferris State’s PRSSA chapter. PRSSA is the premiere pre-professional organization for Public Relations students. The Society has over 320 university chapters and 10,000 student members nationally, and internationally. This 3-day conference was offered exclusively to PRSSA chapter presidents. The purpose of Leadership Rally was to prepare PRSSA chapter presidents for the upcoming school year. The chapter presidents focused on gaining leadership skills and learning how to maximize students’ value as a PRSSA member, how to dissolve conflict, how to manage a pre-professional organization, and how to prepare...

Tom Hanley, APR, Vice President, Client Services at Wondergem is teaching the Public Relations capstone course this semester while Dr. Patrick Bishop completes his sabbatical.Tom brings more than 28 years of public relations experience to share with the Public Relations program. Spectrum Health recruited Tom in 2007 to direct communications for Helen Devos Children’s Hospital. Later, he initiated the Corporate Social Responsibility program at Spectrum Health.   • PR Student Interns at 500 Festival in Indianapolis

    June 20th, 2013  Olivia Adams, a public relations student, recently finished her internship with the 500 Festival in Indianapolis, IN. The 500 Festival is a non-profit organization that helps organize one of the most important races in Indy Car racing, the Indianapolis 500. Hosted at the world’s largest spectator sporting facility, the event attracts more than 250,000 fans each year. An internship of this magnitude comes with a lot of responsibilities. Olivia took on the role of writing the 500 Festival Parade scripts, writing and distributing press releases, attending television and radio interviews, and managing the website.
