Professional activities and areas of interest

After 30 years in the Information Systems business environment, Professor Furstenberg joins the Ferris ISI program as a full-time faculty member in the fall of 2014.

During his 30 years in Information Systems, he has held many different positions in both large corporations and small organizations. He has held positions including Chief Information Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Infrastructure and Systems Administrator, IT Security Analyst and Consultant. Professor Furstenberg is actively involved in the State of Michigan’s Cyber Range initiative, serving on the executive council for the nation’s first militarily unclassified cyber warfare training and education infrastructure.

Outside of the classroom, Professor Furstenberg resides in Traverse City with his wife Mandi. He is a nationally licensed soccer coach and past State of Michigan Youth Coach of the Year; coaching youth soccer from ages 5 to 20. Many of his players have gone on to play in D1, D2, and D3 collegiate programs both domestically and internationally. He is honored to have helped create and coach the Special Olympics Soccer Program in Traverse City.
