PMI Team Proceeds to Competition Finals
The Project Management Institute (PMI) team, coached by Ferris instructor Dan Tuuri, will participate in the last round of the Project Management Institute’s “The Project” competition on April 14 at Davenport University.
The awards ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. The team is hoping for a strong finish. Currently, Ferris places first out of ten teams. The winner of the competition will receive a $5,000 cash prize.
The Western Michigan Collegiate Project Management Competition invites teams of 3 – 6 students to compete for cash prizes and paid internships. Each team much create a project management plan for a given business situation. The judges evaluate the plan based on the PMBOK fundamentals, emulating a business choosing a project to fund.
Each team is required to follow a schedule of deadlines at each stage of the competition. They make presentations to the panel of judges while tackling unplanned issues in the process. Students are able to showcase their abilities to handle realistic business challenges.
