Professional activities and areas of interest
Mr. Kohn’s primary interest is in forensic accounting. Mr. Kohn has over 30 years of experience in consulting and private industry. Prior to joining the FSU faculty in 2012 he specialized in complex business litigation including the analysis of financial statements, cash flow, sales revenues, variable costs, earnings estimates, product replacement, and other general economic factors. He has provided consulting services to numerous industries such as aerospace, construction, entertainment, financial institutions, healthcare, manufacturing, securities, and utilities.
Mr. Kohn has testified in federal and state courts for both plaintiffs and defendants. His written testimony has been accepted in Federal Bankruptcy Court and he has served as an arbitrator. His testimony generally covers financial damages resulting from lost profits, breach of contract, business interruption, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty.
Mr. Kohn enjoys interacting with students and sharing his real world experiences. Working outside the classroom provides a vehicle to help students connect academic learning with practical applications.
