This is Elaina Cipcic, a senior in the Legal Studies program.
Where are you from?
I’m from Reed City.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I’m taking a year off before I start applying to law schools. I’d really like to go to the University of Michigan or Chicago for law school.
Why did you choose Ferris for Legal Studies?
I knew I wanted to go to law school, and Ferris’ program was going to give me a head start with learning the legal terms and research. I wanted to learn all of it now so that way it didn’t become overwhelming later.
What do you like about the Legal Studies program?
Honestly, all the law stuff fascinates me. Also, the professors are so knowledgable and get your prepared. Professor Vermeer especially treats his classes like a real law school class and is honest with what is acceptable in law school and what isn’t.
What do you want to do with your degree?
I really want to specialize in environmental law and non-profit law. I was visiting Australia once and I scuba dived into the coral reef and saw how bad it was because people don’t take care of it. Nature doesn’t have a voice and I want to help.
What kind of experience are you getting in your field?
I currently work at a law office as a legal secretary and I love it. All the things I do at the office has helped solidify my choice to go into law and go to law school.
Are you involved in any RSOs on campus?
I’m in Phi Alpha Delta, the Pre-Law fraternity on campus and I’m also involved in the Legal Studies Association. I’m also in the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha.
