Comprehensive eye examinations are provided in the Primary Care Clinic. High quality optometric services are provided in a manner and with the skill that is consistent with the best interest of the patient.
The University Eye Center (UEC) is a full-service eye care clinic located within the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) at Ferris State University. The clinic services University employees, students, the Big Rapids community, and Northern/Western Michigan. We also serve patients from all across the United States. In addition to providing routine vision exams, the UEC has specialty clinics in the following areas: Ocular Disease, Pre- and Post-Surgical Care, Vision Rehabilitation, Specialty Contact Lenses, Pediatrics, and Binocular Vision & Vision Therapy. Patients are examined and treated by advanced optometry doctoral students and licensed optometrists. Each specialty clinic is run by dedicated doctors who are experts in their field.
As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation please know that the health and safety of our patients, students, and staff are our top priority. Masks in patient care areas are recommended, but not required at this time.
University Eye Center has an ethical duty to its patient's to make their welfare the highest priority; service is our number one goal and responsibility. As we are affiliated with the Michigan College of Optometry it is also our goal to provide the best learning environment as possible during the students clinic time slots. Upon completion of their clinic experience their knowledge, skill and competency should meet satisfactory levels as determined by the College.

We provide comprehensive eye care including cosmetic and specialized correction of myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia using both rigid and soft contact lenses for patients of all ages.
The Michigan College of Optometry Interprofessional Wellness Clinic works with students from nursing and pharmacy to provide the best vision care.
The Pediatric and Binocular Vision Service is staffed by pediatric optometrists. Student doctors in their third or fourth year of optometry school conduct the examinations under direct supervision of one of the pediatric faculty.
The Vision Rehabilitation clinic accepts appointments for individuals who are unable to read normal size print, such as a newspaper, using conventional glasses or contact lenses.
The University Eye Center has more than 1000 name brand frames to find the perfect fit and style for you. Bring in your eyeglasses prescription for the best selection. Our skilled opticians are experts at fitting glasses and performing repairs.
