Student Software - Windows

The FSU Computer Standards Committee is recommending the following software packages as the standard software load for students:

  1. Windows 7 Operating System (SP1)
  2. Internet Explorer 9
  3. Mozilla Firefox 19
  4. Microsoft Office 2013 Suite
  5. Acrobat Reader and Flash plug-ins
  6. Java 1.6 update 31
  7. Current Antivirus (click here for a list of approved antivirus software)

Some academic programs require students to purchase special software. Students should talk to their academic program office staff or instructor to obtain a list of software required for their program. Most software required by different programs at Ferris are available for use on lab computers on campus. Talk to your instructor for lab locations or find out if the software is available on any of the FLITE open lab computers here.

The Microsoft Office suite (Windows & Mac versions), Windows operating system, and some Adobe software is available for purchase at a reduced price from the Student Technology Services Store. Click here to go to the STS Store.

Antivirus software must be on the approved antivirus software list. Antivirus definitions must be no older than 14 days old.
