Software Standards - Windows

The FSU Computer Standards Committee is recommending that the following software packages be recognized as the standard software load supported for faculty and staff personal computers on campus:

  1. Windows 7 Operating System (SP1 Professional)
  2. Outlook 2013 (Office 365)
  3. Internet Explorer 11
  4. Mozilla Firefox 25
  5. Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.x
  6. Microsoft Office 2013 Suite
  7. Microsoft Visio 2013
  8. Microsoft Project 2013
  9. Adobe Acrobat Professional XI
  10. Snagit 12
  11. Flash plug-in
  12. Java 1.70 update 71
  13. Kace Client

In a student computer open lab, we recommend the same software be installed on the machine with the following exceptions:

  • Outlook 2013 will not be loaded on the machines for e-mail
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader XI will be installed in place of Acrobat Professional XI unless licenses have been purchased for the lab computers

Departments that have additional software requirements or have programmatic requirements should contact the Technology Assistance Center.

Student personal computer software recommendations are available here.
