Software Standards - Macintosh

The FSU Computer Standards Committee is recommending that the following software packages be recognized as the standard software load supported for faculty and staff Apple computers on campus:

  1. Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks
  2. Outlook 2011
  3. Safari 7.0.5
  4. Mozilla Firefox (auto-update to latest version)
  5. Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.4
  6. Microsoft Office 2011 Suite
  7. Lync 14.0.8
  8. Adobe Acrobat Professional XI
  9. Snagit 12
  10. iLife 11
  11. iWork 09
  12. Java 7 update 65
  13. Acrobat Reader and Flash plug-ins
  14. Casper Agent 9.61

In a student computer open lab, we recommend the same software be installed on the machine with the following exceptions:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader XI will replace Acrobat Professional XI unless licenses have been purchased for the lab computers
  • Outlook 2011

Departments that have additional software requirements or have programmatic requirements should contact the Technology Assistance Center.

Student personal computer software recommendations are available here.
