The First Year Experience (FYE) Program is a unique opportunity for first year FSU students who would like to improve and gain leadership skills, form lasting relationships with other students, prepare for a lifetime of learning, connect with campus and community resources, live in an amazing community, and participate in service-learning initiatives. Program participants will satisfy requirements while living the FYE experience.

The goal of the First Year Experience Program is to provide a learning environment which focuses on students who would like to enhance their potential in the following ways:

To enhance the leadership skills of participants…
By engaging in exercises in self-reflection and self-examination, students will gain an understanding of their individual choices, and how their individuality impacts their life and leadership style.
To encourage students to recognize their impact on communities…
By working with a group of other students on service-learning projects, participants will expand their understanding of community service and the impact individuals have on the campus, local, regional, national, and global community.
To make Ferris a more personal experience and contribute to a successful transition into college…
By participating in the hall activities and team development opportunities, students will form a solid understanding of what it takes to be a successful college student and learn what it means to be an involved community member.
