Crisis Intervention

If there is concern about immediate or imminent violence by the student to himself / herself or others, call 911.

For a counseling emergency or urgent situations that occur during regular office hours (8:00 a.m.-noon and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.), contact the Counseling Center at 231-591-5968.

While students are typically seen on an appointment basis, no students in crisis will be turned away. Therefore, walk-ins are accepted when it is determined that you are unable to wait until the next available appointment. Crisis intervention may yield various outcomes including stabilization of student with recommendations for follow up counseling, referral for a more intensive level of care, coordination of care, etc.
