Ryan Pohl graduated from Ferris with three degrees in the fields of Manufacturing — associate degrees in Tooling Technology in 2000 and Technical Education in 2004, as well as a Master of Science degree in Career and Technical Education in 2009. The president of Expert Technical Training, his own firm based in Comstock Park, Mich., Ryan considers himself a "skilled trade activist" and has built a reputation as a technical educator, author and innovator in support of that ideal.

Among Ryan’s career accomplishments are the design and development of training seminars in Spanish for the American Society for Training and Development to assist American manufacturers with immigrant-based workforce development. Ryan also has written numerous articles published in Modern Shop Magazine and Mold Making Technology, and he has worked with the U.S. Department of Labor to promote approved apprenticeship training. He also writes for his blog, www.changetheperception.com, which has been featured on the website of Mike Rowe, host of The Discovery Channel’s very popular television show, "Dirty Jobs."

Ryan serves on the advisory boards of the Kent Career Tech Center and the Heartlands Institute of Ionia and volunteers his time in support of God’s Kitchen North in Rockford, Mich.
