There are many forms on online communication today.  Twitter, Facebook, text messaging, Snapchat, and other apps have made it easy and quick to communicate with our friends and others.

Within the classroom environment we need to be conscious about how we communicate with our classmates and our instructor.  While we want everyone to be able to express their ideas and thoughts and share with the class, we also recognize that online communication can be misunderstood without the non-verbal communication which usually accompanies the words in a face-to-face environment.   Communication in a classroom, even an online one, should be open, thoughtful, professional, and courteous.

To help instructors and students better understand and communicate what is appropriate in an online environment, we have developed the Four Hallmarks of FerrisConnetiquette

Please read these recommended guidelines before starting your online class!
