International Student Recruiter

Riddhi Mehta

Riddhi Mehta is a strong believer in opportunity at Ferris State University.

She sees opportunity as a core value that Ferris’ Office of International Education is guided by in its daily efforts. Mehta believes that opportunity can be found in many shapes and sizes and that it can impact people’s lives in various ways.

Ferris has welcomed international students from 41 different countries – not including the students who were not accepted or chose to enroll elsewhere.

Mehta travels around the world for recruiting and marketing purposes. Like many of the students she meets, Mehta was an international student in search of opportunity. Originally from India, she traveled to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree in Business, specializing in Marketing.

During the last five years, Mehta has been working in international higher education.

“Ferris has given me the opportunity to continue to explore my passion for higher education, to leverage my personal experiences, to be creative and to use my education in international markets, consumer behavior and technology mediated marketing,” she said. “I am fortunate to have had these opportunities, and I find it fulfilling to see people from around the world be able to make their dreams into something tangible.”

Mehta enjoys connecting with the students at Ferris and strengthening relationships with the students that she mentors. Because of her international student experience, Mehta can see exactly what the students are going through and understands what it means to study abroad. On the other hand, Mehta believes that the opportunities available to students studying internationally are abundant.

She believes that Ferris can continue to strengthen its outreach to international students.

In her role as an international student recruiter, Mehta has embraced another effective outreach method.

Webinars are a form of recruitment that the OIE is striving to increase to reach students and families in even more countries. This form of e-recruitment is the least expensive way to get the word out about Ferris. Mehta, along with the rest of the OIE team, uses e-recruitment in an entirely new form of opportunity for the enrollment of international students at Ferris.

“Our model for recruiting is more about e-recruitment now,” Mehta said. “I’ve traveled to many different countries for recruiting, but we have made a presence with our webinars in 23 countries that we were not connected with before.”

These new connections mean new opened doors.

Mehta looks forward to connecting with as many of these students as possible to introduce them to the Ferris experience.
