Colleges Against Cancer Organization to Host Relay for Life Event March 31-April 1

Ferris State University’s Colleges Against Cancer student organization is set to host a Relay for Life event in Jim Wink Arena, beginning Friday, March 31, at 6 p.m., and running through 6 a.m., on Saturday, April 1.

Relay for Life is the major fundraiser for the nonprofit American Cancer Society. The event is a remembrance for loved ones who have been lost, to honor cancer survivors and to raise money for the ACS. Catherine LoSchiavo, president of Ferris’ Colleges Against Cancer chapter and one of the head coordinators of its Relay for Life, said this year’s event is expected to welcome 1,200 participants. Twenty survivors, from surrounding communities, will be participating.

“We plan to raise $55,000 by the end of the event,” LoSchiavo said of the organizers’ primary goal. “I’m so excited to see Ferris students come together for a cause that affects all of our lives. It's comforting to know we are able to celebrate, as one, and support our fellow Bulldogs.”
