Women’s Information Service Inc. (WISE), the Big Rapids Festival of the Arts and Artworks are collaborating to bring a powerful, international campaign to the Big Rapids community. “Art in Protest of Violence Against Women and Girls,” will be hosted in Ferris State University’s West Campus Community Center, from 5 to 7 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 10.
The child-friendly exhibition is meant to emphasize the influence art can have in causing disruption for social change. Performances include drumming and dancing, by the FSU Dance Team and The Secret Belly Dancers, and opportunities for audience participation. The event idea stems from the international movement, “One Billion Rising,” an organization that stands for solidarity against the exploitation of women through creative methods of expression.
