Entertainment Unlimited will host ‘Music Takes Action’ concert in Spring 2016 at Ferris State University.
Formerly known as Ferris Fest, the event has been changed based on feedback received from students who have attended past concerts. In 2016, the goal for Music Takes Action is to attract well-known musicians as part of a bigger outdoor concert. A primary goal for the free outdoor concert is to raise money in support of the mission of Musicians On Call, a nonprofit organization. An additional goal is to educate the community about the benefits of music for the mind and body.
Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities who are undergoing treatment or are unable to leave their beds. The program uses music to complement and promote the healing process for patients, families and caregivers.
Music Takes Action will be hosted near the end of the Spring 2016 semester on Saturday, April 23. Headliners and specific times have yet to be determined. In addition to music, the concert will feature on-site food options for the attendees. As a benefit concert, Music Takes Action will place a major emphasis on fundraising. Auctions, concert merchandise, contests and raffles will be hosted as part of the event. One hundred percent of monies raised will go to Musicians On Call in support of the organization’s mission to provide comfort to healthcare facility patients.
Since 1999, the organization notes that volunteer musicians have performed for nearly half a million patients and their families.
