Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center to Present Testimonios: Hoan Do

Hoan DoVIDEO: Check out a little Hoan Do speaking about his upcoming event at Ferris.

Ferris State University will be hosting a featured event as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

The 2015 celebration’s highlighted event is a keynote address by motivational speaker Hoan Do, who was featured on the hit NBC television show “American Ninja Warrior.” Do’s presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. in the IRC, Room 120. The event also includes authentic food dishes and student performances.

In addition to competing on “American Ninja Warrior,” Do travels around the U.S. to speak to students and teach them about practical strategies for success.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, traditionally hosted in May, is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. The monthlong celebration commemorates the immigration of the first Japanese citizens to the U.S. in 1843, and marks the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the railroad tracks were Chinese immigrants.

Ferris’ 2015 Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration is sponsored by the Asian Student Organization, the Diversity and Inclusion Office, the Office of Multicultural Student Services and Student Government.

Anyone who has a disability and is in need of assistance to attend the event should contact the Office of Multicultural Student Services at (231) 591-2617 or by email, here, at least 72 hours in advance.
