The Suit Up Challenge concludes Monday, Feb. 3, with a 12 p.m. announcement of the winners. The timeline for this event begins with gathering entries from each college within the university through Wednesday, Jan. 29. Once all entries are collected, photos of the students who entered the competition, as well as their photo captions, will be uploaded to Facebook by Thursday, Jan. 30 at 9 a.m., where voting will commence. The voters can view photos of the contestants and place votes by liking the photo(s) they feel represent their best professional attire as well as a “WOW” factor within the photo caption. The opportunity to vote closes at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3. NOTE: The deadline to enter the Suit Up Challenge has been extended until Feb. 3 at midnight.

For a chance to win a $100 shopping trip to the Big Rapids JC Penney to purchase dress attire, salon treatments at Mr. Karl’s Hair Salon and a VIP Career Consulting Make Over provided by CLACS, students are required to officially enter the Suit Up Challenge. To enter, a student must dress in their best professional attire from head to toe and may either go to the CLACS office to get their photo taken, be caught on campus in the professional attire and get their photo taken or submit an entry via OrgSync. Along with the submitted photo, contestants must include a photo caption to explain why they believe they should win. Contestants will also be required to change their cover photo on their personal Facebook to the official Career Week Image, which will be emailed to all Challenge contestants.

The winners will be chosen based on three factors: the most professional looking attire, creativity and the “WOW factor” based on photo caption and the most Facebook “likes” between Jan. 30 and Feb. 3. One student from each college will be selected as a challenge winner. The winners will then have an opportunity to go on their shopping trip and attend the VIP Career Consulting Make Over (resume, cover letter and mock interview) from Tuesday, Feb. 4 through Friday, Feb. 7.

“The Suit Up Challenge is designed to educate students on the importance of professional dress attire and prepare them for the Spring Career and Internship Fair on Thursday, Feb. 13,” said Amber Kneibel, the assistant Director of Center for Leadership and Career Services. “We hope this is a fun way to get the word out and also give some free stuff away that students actually need. Please join us and Suit Up.”
